The 2018 college football season is finally less than one month away. As the world awaits kickoff, here are 29 predictions for the coming season.

  • Jim Harbaugh overcomes the deamons of his rivals and guides Michigan to their first playoff appearance
  • The winner of week 1’s Auburn vs Washington matchup will be the 4th team in the CFB playoff come December.
  • The Big 12 will not have a team in the playoffs
  • Lane Kiffin and Florida Atlantic, led by RB Devin Singletary will represent the Group of 5 in a NY6 bowl game
  • Defending national champion UCF will not repeat (as national champs or AAC champs)
  • UCLA will begin the season, and the Chip Kelly era, 0-2 with losses at home to Cincinnati and on the road at Oklahoma
  • Scott Frost will guide Nebraska to a bowl game, but is still a year or two away from a major break through in the Big Ten
  • After a roller coaster coaching search, Jeremy Pruitt will lead Tennessee back to a bowl game
  • Of the top 5 heisman candidates, 3 will be running backs – Stanford’s Bryce Love, Ohio State’s JK Dobbins, and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor
  • The other two will be Arizona QB Khalil Tate and Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham
  • QB Justin Herbert won’t finish in the top 5, but will put up significant passing and TD numbers in a bounce back year for Oregon
  • Ed Orgeron, after a mediocre season for LSU will not return in 2019
  • Kansas won’t win a conference game for the third time in four years during coach David Beaty’s tenure
  • 2018 will be Bill Snyder’s last as a head coach
  • Kevin Sumlin and heisman contender Khalil Tate will win the Pac-12 south, ahead of USC
  • Mississippi State will win the week 4 game against former head coach Dan Mullen
  • Jimbo Fisher will not fill in his championship plaque after the 2018 season
  • Ohio University will have the best record in the state
  • Year 1 of the Herm Edwards era will end in disaster with a losing record, last place in Pac 12 south and multiple players deciding to transfer
  • Florida State bounces back after a terrible (by their standards) 2017 season and beats Clemson at home, handing the Tigers their only loss
  • The turnover chain will not be a thing in 2018
  • Houston DT Ed Oliver will score at least 5 touchdowns on offense
  • Ohio State’s Nick Bosa will have a better season than big bro Joey Bosa ever did
  • Georgia CB Denadre Baker will lead the nation in interceptions
  • It won’t matter who plays QB for Alabama – they will go 12-0
  • Tua Tagovailoa will start the majority of the games for Alabama, over Jalen Hurts
  • One of the top 5 QB recruits from 2018 will transfer following the season – predicting it will be Georgia’s Justin Fields after another successful season by Jake Fromm
  • BYU returns to a bowl game after a rough 2017
  • Notre Dame will be on the outside looking in at the New Year’s Six bowls.

Just for fun, how about a 30th prediction – this season is going to be AWESOME!!
