College Football Week 5 – Off the Schneid

Off the schneid means to break out of a losing streak. Here’s a look at the teams in college football this weekend, looking to do that.

Texas A&M vs Alabama – Aggies have lost 7 in a row vs Bama. The last win came in 2012 when Johnny Manziel and A&M pulled off the huge upset on the road to hand #1 Alabama their first loss (9-1).

Clemson vs Virginia – Cavs have lost 4 in a row to Clemson, including the ACC Championship Game in 2019, 62-17. Last Virginia win came in 2004.

Auburn vs Georgia – Tigers have lost three in a row, a streak which began in the 2017 SEC Championship Game.

Vanderbilt vs LSU – Vandy has lost 8 in a row, which seems like a low number. That’s because these schools played in opposite divisions in the SEC, so they don’t play every year. LSU won 66-38 in 2019, but that was their first game since 2010. Vanderbilt’s last win came in 1990.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State – Tech has lost 4 in a row and 8 of 9 overall against Kansas State.

SMU vs Memphis – 6 losses in a row for Mustangs, who are 1-6 overall in AAC games vs the Tigers. The most recent loss was 54-48 in 2019 in primetime, when Memphis hosted College Gameday.
