History of Baker Mayfield vs Mason Rudolph

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns is a long, historical rivalry in the NFL. Just like Oklahoma Sooners vs Oklahoma State Cowboys is a significant rivalry in college football.

In 2016 and 2017, current Browns QB Baker Mayfield started for Oklahoma and faced Oklahoma State twice, who was led by current Steelers QB Mason Rudolph.

Bedlam 2016

The 2016 game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State didn’t have too many fireworks. Oklahoma came in 8-0 in Big 12 play and Oklahoma State was 7-1, so a spot in the Sugar Bowl and Big 12 Championship was at stake.

Sooners won 38-20, outscoring the Cowboys 21-3 in the second half.

Mayfield completed 13 of 19 passes, throwing for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Rudolph completed 11 of 25 passes for 186 yards and ran for a touchdown.

Other notable players – Oklahoma’s offense came from the running game. Samaje Perine carried the ball 37 times and ran for 239 yards and Joe Mixon ran for 99 yards on 11 carries. Both scored a touchdown. WR Dede Westbrook caught 4 passes (1 TD) for 111 yards.

Oklahoma State’s second touchdown was scored by RB Chris Carson, who ran for 91 yards, behind Justice Hill’s 99 yards. WR James Washington (Rudolph’s current Steelers teammate) caught 2 passes for 50 yards.

Bedlam 2017

THIS was Bedlam. This was just mayhem, but in the best way possible. Both teams entered this game with one loss, and while it wasn’t the regular season finale like 2016, there were still Big 12 Championship stakes involved.

Oklahoma won 62-52.

Just look at these numbers! Mayfield and Rudolph combined to throw for 1,046 yards, 10 touchdowns (plus 1 rush TD), 4 interceptions.
