Oklahoma City Thunder (for now) possess the 18th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. I say for now, because Thunder have a strong history of trading picks and also because this specific pick has been traded a few times.
#18 is 2021’s most well-traveled pick. So how did it get from Miami to OKC?
Trade 1 – In 2015, Miami traded an unprotected 2021 first round pick to Phoenix to acquire PG Goran Dragic. It worked out, as Dragic has had a pretty successful run with Miami.
Trade 2 – In 2018, Phoenix made a draft day trade where they used the Miami pick and #16 pick Zhaire Smith to acquire 76ers’ #10 pick Mikal Bridges.
Trade 3 – During the 2018-19 season, 76ers traded the Miami pick to the Clippers as part of a package for Tobias Harris.
Trade 4 – And in the summer of 2019, the Clippers traded the Miami pick, as one of 5 first round picks, along with Shai-Gilgeous Alexanders to the Thunder for Paul George.
Whoever is picked at 18, will forever be associated with this trade.
