We are now at the half way point of the 2018 NFL season as we approach week 10 and for the season, I am picking winners straight up with 60% accuracy.
Before jumping into my week 9 picks, here are 5 bold predictions for the week:
- (IF he plays) Newly signed Saints WR Dez Bryant will score a touchdown in his first game as a New Orleans Saint!
- The Titans have not given up more than 28 points this season, the Patriots will go over 35
- Newly acquired WR Golden Tate will score a touchdown in his first game as a Philadelphia Eagle (132 yards, 2 TD with Lions week 3 vs Cowboys)
- Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will snap out of his recent funk and contribute 5 total touchdowns this week
- Ryan Fitz”Magic”Patrick, still starting for the Bucs, will dazzle the home crowd with 400+ yards
Take a nostalgic look at the series history of the key non-divisional games on Sunday
Now onto my week 10 picks
Panthers vs Steelers (Thursday)
The Panthers have been playing great as of late. They are 5-0 at home, but only 1-2 on the road. They will get their chance to get to .500 on the road. They have been the more consistent tea and the better defensive team which I think will pay off for them against a turnover prone QB in Big Ben.
Saints vs Bengals
Dez Bryant, if he plays, will show you that he is a red-zone threat and score a TD in his first game. The Saints are on a roll and the Bengals will be without AJ Green, they simply will not be able to keep up with a Saints team averaging 35 points a game.
Falcons vs Browns
Julio finally scored a touchdown last week! Don’t be surprised if he does it again in Cleveland this week. Atlanta has been playing much better of late and they need to keep it going trying to keep pace with the Panthers and Saints and fighting for one of the NFC Wild Card Spots.
Colts vs Jaguars
Leonard Fournette is expected back, but Bortles is still the QB. Luck has proven to find ways to move the ball and compete in games. I think this one will come down to the better QB.
Bears vs Lions
Different week, same reason why the Lions will lose, and that’s because they always find a way to lose. Stafford can only do so much, they got rid of Golden Tate and the Bears have been playing well on both sides of the ball. I expect the Bears to give the home fans another reason to cheer.
Chiefs vs Cardinals
It’s the 7-1 Chiefs. It’s the 1-7 Cardinals. Do I need to say anything?
Patriots vs Titans
The Titans kept their season alive with a win on MNF against the Cowboys. The Patriots are not the Cowboys and will actually score points when in the red-zone and given the ball.
Redskins vs Buccaneers
The Redskins showed they had issues against the pass last week against the Falcons. Fitzpatrick loves to throw deep and challenge the DBs and Safeties to make plays. I think the Redskins will have issues stopping the Bus passing attack.
Jets vs Bills
The Jets haven’t been winning games of late but they have been keeping them close. I think Darnold is able to string together enough drives at home this week to finally get another W.
Chargers vs Raiders
Simple, the Raiders do not want to ruin their draft stock, they will not win this game.
Packers vs Dolphins
This is a must win for the Packers at home after going 0-2 on the road to the Rams & Patriots. I expect 40+ points out of the Packers in this one.
Rams vs Seahawks
The Rams will look to punish the Seahawks after suffering their first loss of the season in New Orleans last week. I think they get back on track at home this week.
Eagles vs Cowboys
As much as I hate to say the Eagles, just go watch the film from MNF this past week and it’s hard to argue
49ers vs Giants (Monday)
Nick Mullens will go 2-0 after beating the Giants on Monday Night Football, as long as he does not turn over the ball. The Niners are just playing with more intensity, they want to show they can win games even without their starting QB and RB and make teams fear them next year. Giants are trying to figure out how to find a new starting QB.
